Celebrating Windrush: Honouring Legacy and Building Community

We are delighted to announce the receipt of funding from The National Lottery Community Fund to launch our Windrush Celebration project. This initiative, marking the 75th anniversary of the Windrush, aims to educate the public about the profound contributions of the Windrush generation to today's multicultural Britain.

Over nine months, the project will unfold through a series of engaging events designed to honour the Windrush heroes and their lasting impact on British society. Through these events and an interactive social gathering, attendees will have the opportunity to delve into the rich history, legacies, and positive changes brought about by the Windrush generation across four generations.

Throughout the celebration Windrush children will share their experiences, further illuminating the enduring impact of this key moment in British history. This initiative holds the promise of bringing together individuals of diverse backgrounds to celebrate, learn from, and share their stories, ultimately enabling stronger relationships within and across communities. We also hope to inspire a deeper understanding and appreciation for the contributions of all communities in the UK by recognising the profound influence of the Windrush on British culture and history.

"We are immensely grateful for the support from The National Lottery Community Fund, which will allow us to shine a spotlight on the invaluable contributions of the Windrush generation," said Dee Onigbanjo, CEO and Founder, Youth PWR. "Through this celebration, we aim to enable deeper connections within our communities and honour the legacy of those who have helped shape modern Britain."
